“Date of Assessment: 3 to 15 December 2025. The Old Rectory is a care home service providing accommodation and personal care for adults learning disabilities and autistic people. This inspection was carried out in response to the rating of requires improvement at the last inspection. At this inspection we found the provider had made improvements and was no longer in breach of regulations.”

“We expect health and social care providers to guarantee people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choices and independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted. ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ is the guidance CQC follows to make assessments and judgements about services supporting people with a learning disability and autistic people and providers must have regard to it.”

“Right support – people were kept safe from risks of harm. The service now had enough staff providing consistent care and support to people, which enabled them to access their community. The service had effective systems to manage risks people experienced, including risks during periods of anxiety and distress. Staff received good training and support to help them do their job well. The service was accessible for people and adaptations had been made to ensure the building met people’s needs. Work to support people to identify their wishes for the future, including end of life care, and plan out support they needed had not been completed. The registered manager was aware work was needed in this area and was looking to source specialist input to help staff support people with this.”

“Right care – people had support plans which reflected their individual needs. People were now supported to take their medicines safely, although further improvements were needed to the guidance about variable doses of medicines. The registered manager took immediate action to make these improvements during the inspection. Relatives told us staff provided care for people in a person-centred way. The provider worked with health and social care professionals to ensure people had access to the care they needed. Feedback from professional partners was positive about the way the service worked with them to meet people’s needs.”

“Right culture – people and relatives knew who the management team were and told us they would be able to raise concerns if needed. Governance systems were now effective in identifying areas for improvement and ensuring these improvements were made. Staff said they could raise any concerns with the management team and were confident action would be taken as a result.”
