Cookie Policy

This Cookie Policy explains how yourcarehome.co.uk uses cookies and similar technologies, and how you can control them. It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle personal data more generally.

1. What cookies are

Cookies are small text files, or similar technologies such as local storage and pixel tags, placed on your device when you visit a website. They can help a website recognise your device, remember choices you have made, provide functions, measure usage and support online services. Some cookies are set by us directly (first-party cookies); others are set by third-party services we use, such as Google or Cloudflare (third-party cookies).

2. How consent works

When you first visit the Site, a cookie banner from our consent management platform, CookieYes, asks you to choose whether to accept or reject non-essential cookies. Accept and Reject are given equal prominence in the banner: neither option is easier to find or use than the other, and no cookies beyond the strictly necessary category are set before you make a choice.

Strictly necessary cookies are set regardless, because the Site cannot function properly without them. All other cookies, including analytics and advertising cookies, are only set after you have given consent.

If you reject non-essential cookies, the Site will continue to work, though some content, such as maps or advertising, may not load or may look different.

You can change your choice at any time using the Cookie settings link in the footer or the floating cookie icon on the Site, or by clearing cookies in your browser.

3. Strictly necessary cookies

These cookies are needed to operate the Site and cannot be switched off. They include:

  • cookieyes-consent – set by CookieYes to record your cookie choices;
  • WordPress and WooCommerce session cookies, which keep you logged in, remember items in a checkout and support core site functions such as submitting forms;
  • __cf_bm and cf_clearance – set by Cloudflare for bot detection and security, including the Cloudflare Turnstile check used to screen out bot submissions on some forms;
  • small first-party cookies that remember a step in the listing-claim form or that you closed a help box; and
  • if you are signed in, short-lived cookies that count listing visits for the listing’s operator.

We also use Cloudflare’s cookieless website analytics, which does not set cookies or store personal identifiers.

4. Analytics cookies

Where you have consented, we use Google Analytics 4 to understand how the Site is used, including pages viewed, navigation and general usage patterns. These cookies (such as _ga and related names) are only loaded after you consent, and Google Analytics is configured with Google Consent Mode v2, so nothing is stored beforehand.

5. Advertising cookies

We show Google AdSense advertisements on free listings only; paid listings do not carry advertising. Where you have consented to advertising cookies, Google and its advertising partners may set cookies, such as the DoubleClick IDE cookie, to help select and measure adverts and limit how often you see the same one.

6. Functional cookies

Some parts of the Site use functional cookies or similar technologies from third parties. Where they are not strictly necessary, they are only loaded after you consent:

  • Google Maps, used on the homepage, search and listing pages to show maps and location information; and
  • Stripe – when a care provider goes to Stripe’s hosted checkout or billing portal, Stripe sets its own cookies (__stripe_mid and __stripe_sid) on its own site for fraud prevention. See Stripe’s cookie policy.

7. Managing and blocking cookies

Besides the choices available through our cookie settings tool, you can manage or block cookies through your browser settings. Most browsers let you see what cookies are stored, delete them individually or in bulk, and block cookies from some or all websites. Browsing in a private or incognito window will generally prevent cookies from persisting after you close the window, but does not itself withdraw any consent recorded during that session.

If you block or delete strictly necessary cookies, some parts of the Site may not work properly, including logging in, submitting forms and completing a checkout.

We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. The latest version published on the Site will apply.
