“Date of assessment: 17, 21 and 26 August 2026.”

“Seaview Nursing Home provides nursing and personal care for up to 91 people with nursing needs, many of whom were also living with dementia. There were 40 people living there at this time. This assessment was undertaken in response to concerns raised about the delivery of safe care at the service. We have identified areas for improvement that the registered manager and management team have responded to immediately.”

“At the last rated inspection in July 2025, we rated the service as requires improvement, and at this inspection we saw improvements had been made, and the rating has changed to Good.”

“The governance and overview of processes had improved, however there were some checks and audits that were not up to date. The maintenance and décor of the property was poor and needed attention. At present there were many areas and issues in progress but not fully completed. The property was not well maintained in the older part of the building which had impacted on the overall cleanliness. However, the main lounges and communal areas were clean and there were no concerns raised by people and visitors regarding the safety of the property. Staffing levels and staff deployment at specific times of the day had impacted on the staff responsiveness to call bells. This was addressed immediately by the registered manager and area manager.”

“People received safe care and staff managed risks safely, responsively and effectively. People had individual care plans and risk assessments in place that guided staff to deliver safe care. People and their loved ones were involved with this process and felt their choices and needs were considered. The management of medicines was safe and efficient. People were not unlawfully restricted, processes in place at the service ensured appropriate individual documentation was in place for people who lived with restrictions which had been imposed to ensure their safety. People and staff told us they would feel confident to raise any concerns and that these would be responded to by the management team.”

“The provider had liaised with external health professionals to provide joined up care and treatment for people. This had promoted safe transitions for people moving between different services.”

“Staff and management knew people well and received an induction, training and support that enabled them to manage people’s health and social care effectively and in a responsive way. Following a recent incident, the provider responded by extending the induction and probation programme.”

“People enjoyed their meals and were supported by staff to follow a healthy lifestyle. Staff treated people with kindness and compassion, and there was a positive and friendly culture in the service. People were encouraged to remain as independent as possible and there was a dedicated activity team that worked alongside the care team to promote mental and physical well-being.”

“Systems were in place that allowed people, relatives and staff to speak up and have their voices heard. Staff felt the management team were open and approachable, and there were regular opportunities for staff and management to discuss incidents or areas for improvement within the service to ensure lessons were learnt.”
