“Following the previous inspection which took place on 20 and 23 June 2022, the home had been in breach of the legal regulations relating to safe care and treatment, and governance. During this assessment, improvements were identified, and the provider was no longer in breach of these regulations.”

“People received safe and effective care at Henson Court. Improvements had been made to respond to incidents and reporting. Systems were in place to safeguard people and learn and respond should things go wrong. One professional said, “Overall, our experience has been positive, and the service shows a strong commitment to safe, effective, and compassionate care.””

“Leaders and staff were committed to promoting people’s independence and choice so that lived fulfilling lives. People received person centred care from trained and skilled staff who understood their needs, routines and preferences. People’s health and wellbeing was closely monitored by staff. Mental and physical health needs were consistently reviewed, and staff were skilled in supporting people when they communicated their distress. Staff ensured that people received joined up care with partnership working from external professionals. One professional said, “I don’t feel that improvements are needed in this home. It felt like home for the residents and not a workplace, where people are cared for.””

“Governance arrangements and systems were well established and ensured that peoples care was monitored and improved if needed. Leaders and staff worked together to provide responsive care for people at the home. Care plans were detailed and contained information that staff needed to do their jobs well. Staff told us they were happy working at the home and received the support and development they needed.”

“We have assessed the service against ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ guidance to make judgements about whether the provider guaranteed people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choices, independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted. ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ is the guidance CQC follows to make assessments and judgements about services supporting people with a learning disability and autistic people and providers must have regard to it. The provider was working in line with this guidance.”
