Brookfield Care Home

“Date of assessment: 24 July to 21 August 2025. Brookfield Care Home is a residential service providing care and support for up to 45 older people, including people living with dementia. We assessed the service due to the length of time since our last assessment. Risks to people’s health, safety and wellbeing were not always assessed and regularly reviewed. There were shortfalls in how some prescribed medicines were managed. Whilst some audits were effective, governance arrangements and staff record keeping had not always identified and acted upon the shortfalls, which meant lessons were not always learned to improve people’s care. The overall rating at this assessment has changed from good to requires improvement. We identified 2 breaches of regulation relating to safe care and treatment and good governance.”

“Recruitment was managed safely and there was a consistent staff team who received good support, supervision and training. There were enough staff to support people safely. People were supported by staff who knew them well and demonstrated good values and a caring approach. The home was well maintained, clean and homely, with access to an enclosed garden and nearby facilities. The service was part of a wider estate including housing, a club house and a putting green. The provider had systems in place to gather and respond to feedback. The provider worked in partnership with other agencies.”
