“Due to the small size of the service, systems currently in place were more individualised and whilst lessons were learnt from incidents and shared with staff further work was needed to ensure good oversight particularly as the service expands.”

“Staff told us they felt supported and received regular supervision. Some training required completion or updating and although systems for recruitment were in place these needed review to fully ensure safe recruitment of staff. Action was taken by the registered manager to address these areas.”

“Care plans overall were detailed and person centred. One care plan needed more detail to fully mitigate risk, and some required further detail around capacity which was actioned immediately by the registered manager.”

“The service was working within the principles of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 (MCA) and staff were clear in their conversations with us of their responsibilities to seek consent. However, some staff were yet to complete or refresh training in this area.”

“People were protected from the risks of abuse and staff were trusted to keep them safe. Staff we spoke with were confident to report concerns and were satisfied action would be taken to investigate concerns raised.”

“The service demonstrated a positive, compassionate and open environment. Staff, people and relatives spoke positively about the culture of the service.”
