“The last rating for this service was requires improvement (published 21 June 2023). At the last assessment, we found the provider was breaching legal regulations relating to safe care and treatment and good governance. At this assessment, we found they had made improvements and were no longer breaching any legal regulations. We have rated the service good.”

“People received safe care. The provider assessed risks to their safety and wellbeing. They had systems to learn when things went wrong and make improvements to the service. There were procedures for people to make complaints and for these to be investigated. Staff reported and recorded accidents and incidents. The registered manager investigated these and made improvements to the service because of these.”

“There were enough staff to meet people’s needs and keep them safe. There were systems to ensure staff were suitable during recruitment. The registered manager assessed staff skills, knowledge and ability to carry out their jobs safely. Staff completed a range of training. They had regular meetings with the registered manager to discuss their work and best practice.”

“The provider assessed and planned for people’s needs. They kept care plans updated and made changes in response to people’s requests or changing needs. The provider liaised with people and their relatives to make sure they were happy with their care. Staff monitored their wellbeing. People consented to their care.”

“Staff were kind, supportive and met people’s needs. People were able to make choices about their care and support. Staff respected people’s individual needs and lifestyle choices. Staff supported people to plan for the future and stay as independent as possible.”

“There were effective systems for monitoring and improving the quality of the service. The registered manager made regular contact with people, their relatives and staff. They carried out audits and made improvements when they identified these were needed. There was a positive culture at the service. People using the service, relatives and staff were happy with the agency.”

“We assessed the service against ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ guidance to make judgements about whether the provider guaranteed autistic people and people with a learning disability respect, equality, dignity, choices, independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted. At the time of the assessment, the service was not supporting any autistic people or people with a learning disability. The provider had regard to ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ ensuring good communication and person-centred care. However, staff had not completed specific training to help them understand about the needs of people with a learning disability. We discussed this with the registered manager who was in the process of sourcing the training. They told us they would not provide this type of support until all staff were fully trained.”
