“The last rating for the service was requires improvement (Published 12 October 2022). At our last assessment, we identified breaches of legal regulations relating to person-centred care, consent to care and treatment, safe care and treatment, good governance and fit and proper persons employed. At this assessment, we found the provider had made enough improvement and was no longer breaching any legal regulations. We have rated the service good.”

“People received safe care and treatment. Staff assessed risks. They supported people to make choices and take risks when this was appropriate. Managers and staff followed systems to learn when things went wrong. They investigated incidents, accidents and complaints. These were discussed with staff and people using the service. This helped to ensure improvements were made. People received support to manage their medicines. Staff worked with healthcare teams to ensure medicines were reviewed and, when possible, reduced.”

“There were enough staff to care for people and keep them safe. Staff undertook a range of training to help them understand about their roles and responsibilities. Managers assessed their skills and competencies. Staff explained they felt supported and enjoyed working at the service. There were effective systems for staff to communicate with each other and external professionals.”

“Managers assessed people’s needs and choices along with them and their representatives. They created personalised care plans. People were involved in reviewing their care and making plans for the future. Staff supported people to learn skills and develop their independence.”

“Staff were kind, caring and supportive. They knew people well and had good relationships with people. People’s privacy was respected. People received personalised care which reflected their individual needs and respected their diversity and human rights.”

“There were effective systems for monitoring and improving the quality of the service. Managers carried out a range of audits and checks. They asked people using the service and other stakeholders for feedback. The provider made improvements based on feedback.”

“We assessed the service against ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ guidance to make judgements about whether the provider guaranteed autistic people and people with a learning disability respect, equality, dignity, choices, independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted. The provider was following this guidance. They provided person-centred care and support which took account of people’s wishes. Staff assessed how each person communicated. They found ways to ensure people were able to make informed choices and could communicate their needs. People were supported to do things for themselves and be in control of their lives. People participated in the local community for activities, work and education.”
