“Valleyview is a residential care home for up to 8 people. During our inspection carried out between 4 and 27 February 2026, there were 8 people living at the service. This was a planned inspection due to an aged rating. The service supports people with profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD), characterised by highly complex physical, sensory, cognitive and communication needs that require specialist and consistent support.”

“We have assessed the service against the ‘right support, right care, right culture’ guidance. This enabled us to make judgements about whether the provider guaranteed people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choices, independence, and good access to local communities that most people take for granted.”

Safeguarding arrangements were well understood by staff, who showed a clear awareness of their responsibilities. Care was delivered in the least restrictive way and in line with legal requirements, with a consistent focus on people’s rights. “Medicines were managed safely and effectively, with clear systems in place to ensure people received their medicines as prescribed. Staffing levels were appropriate and matched to people’s needs, helping to provide consistent and reliable support. Recruitment processes were safe and ensured new staff understood and shared the service’s values. Staff had the skills and knowledge to meet people’s needs, supported through regular training, supervision and opportunities for reflection. Staff spoke positively about their roles and said they felt supported and valued by the leadership team.”

“Infection prevention and control measures were well‑embedded in day‑to‑day practice, helping to keep people safe. Staff worked effectively with external professionals, ensuring people had access to the healthcare and specialist input they required to maintain their wellbeing and independence.
