“The Meath Epilepsy Charity is a residential care home providing personal care to people with epilepsy as well as living with a learning or physical disability. There are 3 registered managers who oversee 8 individual services. Each service has a deputy manager and senior care worker. There are communal resources available to all those living at the location including a skills centre, café and gym. At the time of our assessment there were 77 people using the service.”
“Date of assessment 8 January to 15 January 2026. We visited the service on 8 January and 13 January 2026. This assessment took place in response to concerns about staffing levels and poor recording of people’s care. We did not find any evidence of this during our inspection. We also followed up on repeated breaches of regulation identified at our last inspection in September 2024.”

“We assessed the service against ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ guidance to make judgements about whether the provider guaranteed people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choices, independence, and good access to community facilities.”
“At our last inspection in September 2024, we identified 2 repeated breaches of regulation in relation to safe care and treatment and good governance. During this assessment, we found improvements had been made and the provider was no longer in breach of legal regulation.”
“People received their medicines safely and as prescribed, and staff received training in medicines management. Processes to help ensure that risks to people were assessed and mitigated were effective. Staffing levels were overall adequate to meet people’s needs.”
“There were safe systems to protect people from the risk of infection and cross contamination, and staff followed good practice. There were systems in place for the safe recruitment of staff. Overall, people were cared for by staff who were kind and caring and knew them well. Each service was clean, fresh and well-maintained.”
“There was a wide range of activities available for people, and these were person-centred. People and their relatives were involved in their pre-admission assessment, care planning and the management of individual risks. Staff received regular training and had their competencies checked. People’s end of life wishes had been considered and documented. Staff spoke favourably of the management team and felt listened to and consulted.”
