“There were care plans in place for people receiving support. Plans were detailed and gave a comprehensive picture of the people’s lives and their current needs. People were at the centre of their care and where required, had their families involved in helping with decision making. Plans were well written with respectful language which also included information about people’s past as well as the things important to them now.”

“There was a corresponding risk assessment against each section of people’s care plans which clearly detailed how staff should keep people safe as well as help them maintain their independence. Risks were assessed to make sure staff were safe in their working environment as well as the surrounding areas.”

“Systems were embedded and were effective. The provider was able to ensure staff had access to information on how support should be delivered whist staff were caring for people. There were tasks clearly recorded to ensure people received consistency of care each time they were supported.”

“The staff knew how to support people. They told us they knew the person well and over a long period of time had got to know them and their family and had built up a positive working relationship.”

“The provider worked alongside other professionals when required. The provider had a good knowledge of local health services and was able to access support for people using referral processes when required.”

“The provider listened to people and their families. They had regular conversations and sought ideas for improvement through questionnaires as a way of improving their service. They made every effort to get feedback from people they supported who did not speak English. The provider produced information in other languages people spoke so they would be able to converse with them.”

“The provider’s governance systems were robust. The registered manager carried out routine checks on their staff and stayed in regular contact with people receiving care.”

“The provider created an open culture. Staff and the person’s family told us of the ease of being able to talk to the registered manager at any time.”
