“London Borough of Hackney, Housing with Care provides care and support to people living in their own self – contained flats across 14 schemes located in the London Borough of Hackney. The service can support up to 288 people. The schemes provide a supported living setting which enables people to receive care and continue to live independently in their own homes. The Care Quality Commission (CQC) does not regulate premises for supported living; this inspection looked at the personal care provided by the service. Not everyone who used the service received personal care. CQC only inspects where people receive personal care. This is help with tasks related to personal hygiene and eating. Where they do, we also consider any wider social care provided.”

“This is our first assessment of the service using the new approach. We looked at 4 key question areas safe, effective, caring and well-led. The assessment, which included both on and off-site activities, took place on the 20, 21, 28 and 29 November 2024. Two experts by experience made calls to people who use the service and their relatives on the 26 and 27 November 2024.”
“An Expert by Experience is a person who has personal experience of using or caring for someone who uses this type of care service.”
“We spoke to the two registered managers, 4 scheme leaders and 4 team leaders. We also spoke with 17 care workers. We made calls to people and their relatives and spoke with 11 people who used the service and 19 relatives. We found good outcomes for people using the service in all the areas we assessed. People felt safe using the service and staff knew how to keep people safe and escalate concerns around safety for action. Staff felt supported coming to work and their leaders worked jointly with external stakeholders to improve the service.”
