“Jadee’s Nursing Agency is a small homecare service, providing personal care and support to adults in their own homes in Suffolk. This includes people with a physical disability, sensory impairment and/or living with dementia.”
“At the time of the inspection there were 36 people receiving personal care. Not everyone who used the service received the regulated activity of personal care, with some people assisted with cleaning or social visits only. CQC only inspects where people receive personal care. This is help with tasks related to personal hygiene and eating. Where they do, we also consider any wider social care provided.”
“The service is also registered to support autistic people and people with a learning disability. We expect health and social care providers to guarantee autistic people and people with a learning disability the choices, dignity, independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted. Right support, Right care, Right culture is the statutory guidance which supports CQC to make assessments and judgements about services providing support to people with a learning disability and/or autistic people. We considered this guidance as there were 2 people using the service who have a learning disability and/or who are autistic.”
“The provider demonstrated they were meeting the principles of Right culture, right care, right support. Staff supported people to be independent and make choices about their daily lives. Staff had received The Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training on Learning Disability and Autism. This is the government’s preferred and recommended training for health and social care staff to provide them with right skills and knowledge to support safe, compassionate and informed care to people with a learning disability and autistic people. We discussed with the registered manager where people’s care records would benefit from further person-centred detail to reflect their involvement in their care arrangements.”
“ ”
“People received safe quality care and were satisfied that their needs were met. Staff were regular, reliable and punctual. Feedback was complimentary about the staff approach telling us staff treated people with kindness and compassion, respecting their privacy and dignity and encouraging their independence.”
“Staff undertook a range of training to help them understand how to provide appropriate care. This included mandatory training and in addition specialist training to meet clinical needs such as catheter and stoma care. They told us they felt supported in their role and would recommend working for the agency.”
“Staff helped people to stay healthy and monitored their health and wellbeing. People consented to care and told us they were supported to make decisions about their care and support.”
“The leadership team investigated incidents, complaints and safeguarding concerns. Whilst some risk assessments required more detail, staff understood and managed risks as they had specialist training to meet people’s needs.”
“Improvements were needed to people’s care records to ensure they were person centred and not generic and consistently reflected people’s participation in their care arrangements.”
“The leadership team were visible and approachable, helping staff to professionally develop in their roles. Some systems and processes needed enhancing and formalising, to support the continual development of the service.”
