The inspection record

Rated Good overall. Report published 28 September 2026.

“Date of assessment: 13 August 2026.”

“Aldanat Care is a 'supported living' service providing personal care for 29 people. Support is primarily provided to people with learning disabilities and autistic people. People live in individual flats and shared houses across Essex. Some people live in the grounds of Peter House, in Kirby Le Soken, where there are also offices and training rooms. CQC only inspects where people receive personal care. This is help with tasks related to personal hygiene and eating. Where they do, we also consider any wider social care provided.”

“Aldanat Care also operates a domiciliary care agency. At the time of the inspection, no one was using this service; therefore, it was not included in the inspection.”

“This assessment was prompted by a review of the information we held about this service. As a result, we undertook a comprehensive assessment, we looked at 33 quality statements.”

“Our assessment was announced. This means we gave the service 48 hours' notice prior to our visit taking place. This was because we wanted to make sure someone would be available to support us with the inspection. The inspection team consisted of 2 inspectors.”

“We expect health and social care providers to guarantee people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choices and independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted. ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ is the guidance CQC follows to make assessments and judgements about services supporting people with a learning disability and autistic people and providers must have regard to it.”

“We spoke with the registered manager, 2 managers, the Positive behaviour lead and 10 staff members, 2 people and 5 relatives.”

“The provider used a service improvement plan to drive improvements. Risk assessments and care plans were reviewed and updated following concerns to reflect people’s current needs and risks.”

“Staff understood and followed the Mental Capacity Act 2005.”

“Effective systems supported incident learning and safeguarding. Staff understood procedures to protect people from abuse and avoidable harm, and concerns were appropriately recorded.”

“Systems supported safe medicines management and effective infection control. Staff had the appropriate skills and knowledge.”

“Staff knew people well, promoted independence and responded promptly to their needs. Staff recognition initiatives supported wellbeing and a positive culture.”

“Personalised care adapted promptly to changing needs. People felt heard, received accessible information and were supported to access services, engage with their community and were supported to plan for the future.”
