“We carried out this inspection as the service had an aged, inherited rating from the previous provider and had not been inspected under the current provider. This was a comprehensive inspection covering all key questions and quality statements.”

“At the time of the inspection, the service was providing support to some older autistic people and people with a learning disability. We assessed the service against ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ guidance to make judgements about whether the provider guaranteed autistic people and people with a learning disability respect, equality, dignity, choices, independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted. We found the provider was delivering care in line with these principles.”

“At the last inspection, under the previous provider, this service was rated good. At this inspection, we have found the service remained good.”

“There were enough staff available to meet people’s needs. Staff knew people well and understood how they liked to be supported. People were treated with kindness and compassion. Staff protected their privacy and dignity. Staff responded to people in a timely way. The provider supported staff wellbeing.”

“The provider had a good learning culture and people could raise concerns. Managers investigated incidents and staff understood and managed risks. Staff managed medicines well.”

“People’s needs were assessed. People had enough to eat and drink to stay healthy. Staff worked with all agencies involved in people’s care for the best outcomes and smooth transitions when moving services. They monitored people’s health to support healthy living.”

“Leaders were visible, knowledgeable and supportive, helping staff develop in their roles. Staff felt supported to give feedback and were treated equally, free from bullying or harassment. Staff understood their roles and responsibilities.”

“The facilities and equipment met people’s needs. However, we identified some concerns with the condition of the fixtures and fittings within the building. This impacted on staff’s ability to maintain effective infection prevention and control measures. We also found environmental safety precautions required strengthening. The provider responded promptly to our findings, taking immediate action to make the necessary improvements and implement more robust environmental checks. The management team demonstrated a commitment to making continuous improvements in the service to ensure people received good care.  ”
