“This assessment was prompted by a review of the information we held about this service. As a result, we undertook a comprehensive assessment, we looked at 33 quality statements.”

“The inspection team consisted of 1 inspector.”

“We expect health and social care providers to guarantee people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choices and independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted. ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ is the guidance CQC follows to make assessments and judgements about services supporting people with a learning disability and autistic people and providers must have regard to it.”

“We spoke with the registered manager, and the director. 7 staff members, 1 person and 1 relatives.”

“We found the provider had systems in place to monitor and improve the quality and safety of the service. A service improvement plan was being used to identify actions and support ongoing development. Care plans and risk assessments were reviewed regularly, or when staff identified changes in people’s needs, which helped ensure records remained current and reflected people’s support needs and associated risks.”

“Staff understood their responsibilities under the Mental Capacity Act and were aware of safeguarding procedures. The provider had systems to monitor incidents and share learning. We saw that safeguarding concerns were addressed and reported to the relevant agencies. Systems were also in place to support safe medicines management. Infection risks were managed effectively, and people were supported by staff who had the skills and knowledge to meet their needs.”

“Staff knew people well, treated them as individuals and promoted their independence. Relatives told us the service responded promptly to people’s needs. Care was personalised and adapted quickly when people’s needs changed, supported by consistent staffing and clear communication with people and their relatives. People told us they felt listened to and received information in a way that met their needs. Staff supported people to access services when needed, to help maintain community connections and plan for the future. The provider also promoted a positive culture through recognition and reward initiatives, which supported staff wellbeing and contributed to the delivery of person-centred care.”
