“Date of Assessment – 29 May to 18 June 2024.”

“This was a responsive assessment in respect of intelligence CQC had received about the service and potential risk.”

“During this assessment, four regulatory breaches were identified in respect of safe care and treatment, including medicines; staffing;, person centred care and good governance. People’s needs and risks were not adequately assessed or managed. Staff lacked accurate and up to date information on people’s needs and the care they required. Care was not always safely managed or delivered to ensure positive outcomes. The management and administration of medicines was unsafe and placed people at risk of serious harm.”

“People’s care was not always tailored to their individual needs, wishes and preferences to promote person centred care. Learning from accidents and incidents were not effectively shared to prevent the risk of a similar accident or incident happening again.”

“Staff reported they felt supported and trained. Staff were recruited safely, and staffing was sufficient. People had on site access to Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Speech and Language Therapy and a Psychology team in support of their needs. A GP and a Consultant regularly reviewed people’s progress. The home was clean and well maintained.”

“However, records showed staff supervision and appraisals were not up to date to monitor and support staff practice. The systems in place to monitor and improve the quality and safety of the service were also not robust.”
