“Date of assessment: 22 and 23 September 2025.”

“This was an inspection due to the length of time the service had not been inspected. Rose House is a residential care home supporting up to 16 people, including autistic people and people with a learning disability.”

“We have assessed the service against ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ guidance to make judgements about whether the provider guaranteed people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choices, independenceand good access to local communities that most people take for granted. While staff demonstrated compassion and a commitment to improving the service, further work was needed to ensure these principles were fully understood and embedded. New members of the provider had already started to recognise this.”

“This inspection found that people were supported by kind and caring staff who treated them with dignity and respect. Staff had built strong relationships with people and their families, and people told us they felt safe and well cared for. One person said, “Staff are very good for me,” and another gave a thumbs up when asked about staff.”

“Staff understood people’s individual needs and supported them to make choices about their care. However, opportunities to promote independence were sometimes missed. Some care plans were not accessible to people with communication needs. While people had positive outcomes, improvements were needed to ensure care was consistently based on evidence-based practice, particularly in relation to supporting autistic people and embedding bespoke communication systems.”

“Medicines were managed safely. Staff recruitment was safe, and training was in place. Although, further bespoke training was needed to enhance staff understanding of specific conditions and best practices.”

“The environment was clean and infection control practices were understood. However, the suitability of the location for people with increasing mobility needs required review.”

“The service was well-led. The registered manager demonstrated compassion and knowledge, and staff felt supported and empowered. Systems were in place to oversee care and safety, and concerns raised during the inspection were acted upon immediately.”
