“During our first day on site, we identified several environmental risks, including window restrictors not being tamper-proof, damaged and raised flooring that presented trip hazards, and unlocked sluice rooms containing accessible COSHH substances. We also observed the main communal area was busy and noisy, with multiple activities taking place simultaneously, which appeared overwhelming for some people. At the second visit, we found the provider had taken appropriate action to address these concerns.”

“The service demonstrated a commitment to improving the quality and safety of care and responded positively to feedback provided during the assessment. Staff were knowledgeable about safeguarding procedures. Care and support were planned, delivered and regularly reviewed in partnership with people and relevant professionals. Support promoted choice, control and independence in daily life. For example, people had access to a varied range of meal options to meet their preferences and dietary needs. Appropriate healthcare referrals were made when required. Staff told us there were enough staff on duty to meet people's needs, and recruitment, training and supervision processes were in place to support safe care delivery.”
