“The service had made improvements and developed a positive and supportive culture that needed to be embedded and sustained further. A staff member said, “We have made significant improvements in our documentation, care delivery, positive behavioural support, and infection control procedures.””

“We received positive feedback about the new manager who was described by staff as “approachable and supportive.””

“Safeguarding incidents were now monitored effectively, and policies and procedures supported staff to raise any concerns.”

“Notifications were made as required by law. There were enough staff with the right skills, qualifications and experience to meet people’s needs. People were now supported by a consistent team of staff who knew them well. People’s rights were now respected, and consent was sought as required. Family members were involved in developing and reviewing care plans. Staff supported people to have choice and control of their lives. Staff understood their responsibilities and worked effectively with health and social care professionals to promote wellbeing and maintain independence.”

“We used the Short Observational Framework for Inspection (SOFI). SOFI is used to capture the experiences of people who are unable to communicate their experiences with us. We found staff supported people in a meaningful and dignified way. For example when supporting people to eat their meals or when they became distressed.”

“Since our previous inspection, the provider had increased their oversight of the service and worked with various professionals to make improvements. Additionally, the provider had engaged an independent consultant to support changes to the culture of the service. There had been staff restructuring, including the leadership team and care staff.”
