“Lakeview is a care home in Leigh, which has 30 bedrooms across 3 small, purpose-built units. At the time of the inspection 26 people were residing at the care home. The staff at the service care for adults with complex needs arising from brain injuries, dementia, mental health conditions and neuro-disabilities.”

“The provider promoted safety and ensured risks were assessed and managed effectively. Staff understood their safeguarding responsibilities and acted appropriately when concerns were raised. Safeguarding systems were in place to protect people from the risk of harm or abuse. Infection prevention and control measures were implemented effectively. There were enough safely recruited and suitably skilled staff to meet people’s needs. People received their medicines as prescribed; however, some improvements were required including the provider ensuring ‘prescribed when required’ and percutaneous endoscopic gastrostomy (PEG) protocols were sufficient.”

“The provider ensured the service was well led, with clear leadership and governance systems in place. The leaders had a wealth of experience and had an open-door policy. They promoted a transparent culture and inclusive and welcoming environment which encouraged continuous improvement. Staff felt well supported in their roles. There was evidence of communication between the staff team and external partners and the local community.”
