“Inspection activity took place between 11 February to 25 February with a site visit on 11 February 2026. Lady Dane Farmhouse is a care home providing unique care support and opportunities for people living with learning and physical disabilities. At the time of assessment there were 13 people living at the home. We assessed the service against ‘Right support, Right care, Right culture’ guidance to make judgements about whether the provider guaranteed people with a learning disability and autistic people, respect, equality, dignity, choices, independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted.”

“People’s care was exceptionally personalised and regardless of the complexity of some people's needs everyone had equal opportunities. The service ensured there were daily opportunities for people to engage in meaningful activities, develop skills and participate in their local communities and to have a good quality of life. People were supported to develop new life skills such as cooking, money management and food shopping. These skills had a positive impact enabling one person to gain greater independence and successfully move into supported living accommodation, closer to their family.”

“The home was well set up to meet everyone’s needs and accessible to all. The management team had carefully considered how people moved around the home and made thoughtful adaptions including adjusting the height of notice boards, so they were accessible to people who use wheelchairs.”

“There were good systems of audit and governance in place to ensure good oversight of all aspects of the home and delivery of care. The management team had in depth knowledge about the service, staff and knew people's care needs and how best to support them.”

“Staff knew how to support and communicate with people in ways that suited them.”

“Feedback from relatives and community health care professionals was positive about the high level of care and support people received.”

“Comments included, “Residents who have interests and hobbies are supported and encouraged and I always feel that there is a very individual approach to each resident’s needs rather than a one size fits all approach." And "It is really lovely home I love working with them and nothing is too much for them."”

“Staff had the appropriate levels of training and felt confident with the training they had received. Medicine audits took place and medicines were administered safely. Although some medicine errors had occurred these were reported appropriately and the service took effective learning actions.”

“The service had a strong proactive and positive culture of safety, lessons were always learnt to continually identify where improvements could be made and embed good practice. The management team had a strong focus on driving continuous improvement throughout the home. Their creative approach combined with involvement from people and their relatives ensured people were consistently offered new and future opportunities.”
