“Who the service is for”

“This service supports older people including those with physical and mental health conditions.”

“ Key findingsWe carried out this assessment on 30 June 2026. This service was previously rated as good. We carried out this assessment to confirm whether the rating of good remains accurate. This report does not provide detailed information on areas where we found practice continues to meet a good standard. Instead, our findings focus on any areas where the service needs to improve or where we found exceptional practice.”

“People and their relatives spoke positively about the care and support provided and told us they felt safe living at the home. Staff prided themselves with providing care which felt like home from home. Throughout the inspection, we observed warm, respectful and unhurried interactions between staff and people using the service.”

“Staff supported people safely, clearly explaining what they were doing and providing reassurance where needed. One staff member told us, “We really know what people need. We get to know them so well. I treat them like I would my own parents.””

“Medicines were managed safely, supported by effective systems to maintain robust oversight. Staff were suitably trained and they worked well with external professionals to achieve positive outcomes for people.”

“The home was clean, well maintained and free from environmental hazards, with appropriate safety checks completed and equipment kept in good working order. Staffing levels were consistent, with no reliance on agency staff. Many staff had worked at the service for years and staff told us they felt well supported by leaders who were visible, approachable and engaged. One staff member told us, “I'm so happy here, everyone helps each other, we work as a team. We all get on so well. The management structure is new, but it already feels so much better. I can go to any of them with any concerns I have.””

“Care plans were in place and generally reflected people’s assessed needs and risks. The management team were in the process of moving from a paper-based system to an electronic system. This new system provided a more robust oversight of people’s care and could be updated in real time. Care plans were person-centred, clearly detailed people’s needs and wishes to guide staff to support them in the way they wanted. Risks had been robustly assessed and clear guidance was in place for staff to follow to minimise these.”

“People can only be deprived of their liberty to receive care and treatment with appropriate legal authority. In care homes, this can be done through a procedure called the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS), which is part of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 (MCA). We checked whether the service was working within the principles of the MCA and how they managed DoLS within the service. We found that staff and management worked within the MCA. At the time of inspection, no one was subject to DoLS. However, management had a robust understanding of this and when applications would be necessary.”

“Overall, the service provided a calm and well-managed environment with a stable workforce and positive leadership.”
