“Edward House is a care home supporting older people, some of whom were living with dementia. We undertook the assessment as the provider had breaches of regulation from their last inspection and we needed to check whether these had been met.”

“The service had made improvements and was no longer in breach of regulations. We found the service had improved overall and is now rated good based on the review of the quality statements in all key questions we looked at. Staff now complied with the provider’s policy on what personal protective equipment was needed for safe infection prevention control. Risks around people’s hydration were fully assessed and staff had guidance to ensure people remained safely hydrated. Factors that posed increased risks to those who had suffered falls, such as anticoagulant medicines, had been recognised and assessed safely. Systems and processes that had been introduced to monitor and oversee people's care more effectively, had been embedded and sustained in practice.”
