“We carried out this inspection to Eastfield on 30 July 2025. Eastfield is a care home providing personal care and accommodation for up to 43 people, some of whom have a health condition or are living with dementia. At our last inspection, we found breaches of regulations relating to safe care and treatment, safeguarding, staffing, the need for consent, person-centred care, dignity and respect and good governance at the service. We placed conditions on the provider’s registration meaning they could not admit anyone new to the service without the agreement of the Care Quality Commission. We also took additional enforcement action. This inspection was carried out to see if the service had improved in the way the provider had told us it had and that the provider was no longer in breach of these regulations. We found a marked changed in the service which had resulted in a positive impact on staff and an improved culture. Staff said they felt things had improved significantly since our last inspection. They told us they took more time in the way they cared for people and were more conscious of how they interacted with them. Staff told us how much they enjoyed working at the service and that they felt fully supported by management who were approachable, proactive and listened. We found sufficient staff on duty throughout our inspection which meant people did not have to wait for care. Staff had received the necessary training for the role resulting in a confident and competent workforce. Medicines practices were safe and staff worked closely with external health professionals to help ensure people received appropriate care from across various services when they needed it. Staff had undergone safeguarding training and put this training into practice. They demonstrated a good knowledge of which types of concerns needed reporting. Staff took time to get to know people and understood the need to obtain consent or make decisions in a person’s best interests should they lack capacity. This service has been in Special Measures since 18 October 2024. The provider demonstrated improvements have been made. The service is no longer rated as inadequate overall or in any of the key questions. Therefore, this service is no longer in Special Measures.”
