At the time of the assessment the service supported 29 people. The last rating for Charnwood Care Home was Inadequate published on 21 November 2024. At the last assessment there were breaches of regulation relating to safe care and treatment, safeguarding, consent and governance. At this assessment we found the service were no longer in breach of regulations and improvements had been made. The overall rating for this service because of the findings at this assessment has changed to Good. People were protected from the risk of abuse and neglect as the provider had improved their safeguarding processes. However, further work was required to ensure safeguarding processes were embedded within the service. Risks were assessed and risk reduction measures were in place. Staff knew people and their needs well. There were enough staff on duty to keep people safe. The home was clean, and the environment maintained to maximise people’s safety. Staff were kind and caring, respected people’s right to privacy and treated people with dignity and respect. Consent was gained and staff supported people in line with the Mental Capacity Act 2005. Staff referred people to healthcare professionals in a timely manner. Care plans were person centred and reflected people’s needs. Governance processes had been embedded and now highlighted areas for improvement. There was a strong management team in place who were experienced and knew the service and supported people well. There was a strong learning culture which drove service improvement.”
