“Date of assessment: 18 to 25 August 2026 Cedarwood Care Centre is a residential care home which is registered to provide personal care for up to 38 younger and older adults, including people living with dementia. At the time of our assessment, 29 people all over the age of 65 were living at the home. All of which were in receipt of the regulated activity. We carried out a comprehensive assessment. Our decision to assess the service was informed by the age of the previous rating and prior regulatory activity. At the previous assessment, the service was rated Requires Improvement. At this assessment, we found the service had made improvements and was rated Good.”
“The day-to-day operation of the home was overseen by a Home Manager, who reported to the Registered Manager. The Registered Manager visited the service several times each week to provide leadership and oversight. The provider also maintained a regular presence within the home and was supported by an internal quality team, which provided additional monitoring and assurance of service quality and performance. For the purpose of this report when we are referring to all of the management team, we will use the word leaders.”

“People told us they were happy living at Cedarwood Care Centre and spoke positively about the care and support they received. Relatives were also positive about the service and described staff as caring, approachable and responsive to people's needs. Throughout the assessment, we observed warm and respectful interactions between people and staff and found people were treated with dignity, kindness and respect. As part of this assessment, we carried out a short observational framework for inspection assessment (SOFI) to help understand the experiences of people who may not be able to fully communicate their views verbally, such as people living with dementia, learning disabilities, or communication difficulties.”
“People's health and wellbeing were supported through effective access to healthcare services and collaborative working with a range of health and social care professionals. Staff knew people well and understood their individual needs, preferences and life histories. Care and support were delivered in a way that promoted people's independence, choice and involvement in decisions about their lives. Meal choices were provided daily from an offsite central kitchen, and people had access to an on-site pantry-style provision offering alternatives and snacks throughout the day.”
“Staff generally spoke positively about working at the service and described managers as visible and approachable. The provider continued to invest in staff training, leadership development and succession planning to support the delivery of high-quality care. Governance and quality assurance arrangements had strengthened since the previous assessment, resulting in improved oversight of the quality and safety of care. Leaders demonstrated a commitment to learning, improvement and responding to feedback.”
“The service worked effectively with people, relatives, professionals and community partners to help ensure people received coordinated care and maintained important relationships. Systems were in place to seek and respond to feedback from people, relatives and staff, supporting ongoing service development and improvement. The provider was previously in breach of the legal regulation in relation to good governance and safe care and treatment.”
“Improvements were found at this assessment, and the provider was no longer in breach of this regulation. ”
