“Date of Assessment: 26 August to 10 September 2025. The assessment was a responsive assessment due to concerns received about the service. Ashby Lodge is a residential care home providing support to older people and people living with dementia. The service can accommodate up to 21 people, at the time of our assessment 20 people were living at the service. We found a breach around good governance; we found systems and processes were not established and operated effectively to monitor and improve the quality and safety to the services provided in the carrying on of the registered activity. We found the service did not investigate incidents thoroughly. Staff did not have regular supervisions, meetings or appraisals. During our assessment, documents were not available for us to review. We also found some of the records we requested had been put in place recently, such as safeguarding log, cleaning schedules, some maintenance checks at the service and complaints log. However, these concerns had been identified and the recently appointed registered manager had completed an action plan and started to address the concerns. There were enough staff with the right skills, qualifications and experience. Managers made sure staff received training. The provider promoted people’s independence, people were encouraged to be independent and supported with tasks where they needed help to maintain and improve independence. People were offered choice and treated with dignity and respect; and involved as partners in their care.”
