“We carried out this assessment on 22 June 2026.”

“This service was previously rated as good. We carried out this assessment to confirm whether the rating of good remains accurate. This report does not provide detailed information on areas where we found practice continues to meet a good standard. Instead, our findings focus on any areas where the service needs to improve or where we found exceptional practice. Risks were identified, assessed and managed, and staff understood the risks associated with people’s care. One member of staff told us, “Everything is on the care plan including the risk assessments. It has everything we need to know about risks, including around mobility and choking.” Staff were aware of their responsibilities in safeguarding people from abuse and neglect. One member of staff told us, “I would be looking out to see if someone was bruised, injured, distressed or generally anxious. I would inform the on call [manager]. I also have the contact details of the [safeguarding] team in my handbook.””

“Incidents and concerns were reported and reviewed, and learning was used to improve practice. The registered manager told us, “We have incident and accident forms here, if anything has happened the carer will come to the office and fill out a report. If it was an incident for a service user at their home and involved a health and safety risk, I would go out and visit again and then put whatever needed to be done in place and update the care plan.””

“Rotas were planned carefully to ensure staff had sufficient travel time in between care calls. One member of staff told us, “For the amount [of people] we have, there is enough staff to cover. We are given travel time between calls. If a call takes longer, I will tell the office.” Staff were provided with an effective induction and ongoing training and supervisions took place.”

“Assessments were completed before care started and reviewed when people’s needs changed. Staff worked with health and social care professionals where needed, supporting good outcomes and continuity of care. One member of staff told us, “We monitor how much someone has drunk and we encourage them to drink whilst we are there. The next carer can then see how much they have drunk. We encourage eating and give them what they want to eat.””

“Staff understood the importance of maintaining dignity and privacy when supporting people in their own homes. People were treated as individuals, and care plans reflected people’s preferred routines, preferences and life history. One member of staff told us, “They [leaders] always tell us to treat people like they are your mum. I chat, I ask them questions, talk about their day and life. We chat a lot.””

“Leaders listened to feedback and responded appropriately to concerns. There was also a robust complaints system in place. Care delivery was well organised and accessible, supporting reliable and consistent care visits. The registered manager told us, “When we do a care review we will go through the current care plan with people and make any changes.””

“Leaders and staff understood the barriers people may face and actively worked to address them. One member of staff told us, “You don’t want people to feel different, [we need to ensure we are ] giving everyone the same opportunities.””

“The service was well-led. Leaders promoted a clear direction focused on person‑centred care and continuous improvement. Governance systems provided oversight of quality, risk and performance. Leaders were approachable, and staff felt supported to raise concerns, contribute to learning and deliver safe,…”
