“The provider had systems in place to assess, plan and review people's care and support. Care plans and risk assessments reflected people's needs and were reviewed regularly to ensure they remained accurate and relevant. Staff worked collaboratively with healthcare professionals and other agencies to support positive outcomes for people and ensure continuity of care. People were supported to access healthcare services and maintain their health and wellbeing.”

“There was a positive staff culture within the service. Staff told us they felt supported by leaders and were encouraged to raise concerns. Systems were in place to investigate incidents, safeguarding concerns and accidents, and learning was shared across the organisation to support continuous improvement. Leaders promoted values centred on supporting people to achieve greater independence and positive outcomes.”

“People and relatives were involved in decisions about care and support and had opportunities to provide feedback. The provider sought feedback from people and their relatives through meetings, reviews and surveys and acted on suggestions made by people using the service. Care was planned around people’s individual preferences, strengths and aspirations, and people were supported to maintain relationships and pursue personal goals.”

“However, improvements were required in some areas. We identified concerns regarding medicines management arrangements. Although staff had received medicines training and medicines audits were completed, systems used to monitor medicine storage temperatures were not sufficiently robust to ensure medicines were always stored within safe temperature ranges.”

“Leadership and governance arrangements were generally effective. However, leaders had not always identified and addressed issues relating to medicines monitoring and had not consistently submitted all safeguarding notifications to the Care Quality Commission in-line with regulatory requirements. Following feedback, leaders demonstrated a willingness to address these issues and make improvements.”
