“We completed an inspection between 23 June 2026 and 02 July 2026. Gravesend care service is a supported living service that provides individuals with personal care and support in their own homes or shared accommodation. We assessed the service against ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ guidance to make judgements about whether the provider guaranteed people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choices, independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted. The provider was not meeting all the principles of RSRCRC. Care people received was not always person centred and risks to people were not always well managed. For example, people’s homes were referred to as ‘the scheme’.”

“The provider had not ensured risks to people’s health were consistently well managed, this included the risk management for people with epilepsy. Staff had not completed training in epilepsy management which put people at risk of not receiving safe care and support.”
“People’s care plans were not always reflective of their current needs. For example, the monitoring of a person’s health condition was no longer needed, however the care plan did not reflect this change.”
“However, staff understood their safeguarding responsibility and how to keep people safe from harm. Staff were recruited safely following appropriate recruitment checks.”
“Staff worked with other health professionals to ensure people received the care and support they needed from service such as occupation therapists.”
“People were supported to be independent and were supported by staff that were kind and respectful.”
“Staff felt supported by senior leaders and systems were in place for staff to speak up and share their views or concerns.”
“We have asked the provider for an action plan in response to the concerns found at this assessment.”
