“At the time of our assessment, there were 43 people in receipt of care at the time of our first site visit. Due to this being a short-term service the number of people supported fluctuates daily. As the service had not yet been rated, we looked at all quality statements and domains to provide an initial rating.”

“The registered manager was absent from the service at the time of our inspection; therefore, a temporary service manager had been appointed.”

“Feedback was received from 5 health and social care professionals, who highlighted the good working relationships the provider had with partner agencies.”

“Improvements were needed in relation to care records. Whilst records provided basic information, people's wishes and preferences were vague and required further detail to guide staff in meeting people's specific needs, such as catheter care and the management of prescribed medicines.”

“Staff understood their roles and responsibilities and demonstrated a good understanding of people's individual needs. Staff stated there was a strong sense of teamwork; however, communication from management regarding the service changes could have been strengthened.”

“The provider had identified a need for improvements in relation to revising staff roles and the governance and oversight management had. A transformation plan has been created and managers met regularly to review the progress they had made.”
