“Date of assessment: 13 January and 23 January 2026.”

“The service is used by autistic people or people with a learning disability but is not registered as a specialist service. We have assessed the service against ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ guidance to make judgements about whether the provider guaranteed people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choices, independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted.”

“We carried out this assessment as we had received information of concern relating to the environment and moving and handling practices.”

“On the first day we found some areas of the premises were not always secure and improvements were required in relation to the servicing and safety of some equipment and facilities. We also noted concerns with medicines management and infection prevention control. This was a breach of regulation in relation to safety and risk. We discussed our concerns with the registered manager who took action to resolve the issues we identified.”

“Audits and checks did not consistently identify shortfalls and drive improvements. This was a breach of legal regulation in relation good governance.”

“Staff knew people well and took part in training to help them meet their needs. We identified one area where training was not provided and the registered manager took action to address this.”

“Events and activities were planned, and people could participate in these if this was their wish. People were invited to give feedback on the service and changes were made when this was possible.”

“When restrictions were required to help maintain people’s safety, these were made lawfully. Staff were aware of the type of restrictions that may occur in a care service and said they would report any concerns to the registered manager.”

“People were treated with kindness and compassion. Staff protected their privacy and dignity and treated them respectfully. People were supported to maintain relationships with family and friends if they wished to do so. Staff were aware of their responsibilities to raise concerns with the safeguarding authorities if they felt people were at risk of harm or abuse and knew the different ways concerns could be raised.”

“Documentation and people’s feedback evidenced people were referred to external health professionals if needed. People’s nutritional needs were assessed and monitored. Information was shared effectively with other relevant health professionals to support people’s wellbeing. People were provided with a choice of meals, snacks and drinks were available if people wanted these. People told us they enjoyed the meals and an alternative was provided if they wanted this.”
