“The service specialised in the care of people with a learning disability and autistic people. We have assessed the service against ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ guidance to make judgements about whether the provider guaranteed people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choices, independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted.”
“Staff and people benefited from an open and positive culture in the service. The service learned from incidents and any changes in people’s presentation adapting and improving practice whenever needed. People were supported to carry on their lives as they wanted, any risks were assessed and minimised ensuring full and enjoyable lifestyles. People had autonomy and were able to choose and influence what happened in the service.”
“People were supported by a team of staff who knew them very well, worked well together and enjoyed their work. Staff felt valued, undertook regular training, received supervision and had their welfare considered and responded to.”
“The environment was being up graded, and systems were in place to ensure effective maintenance and safety checks were undertaken. Documentation supporting these were not always clear and needed further attention and this was addressed by the managers. The service was clean and hygienic. Medicines were stored and administered safely.”
“People’s dignity, privacy and human rights were maintained. Staff treated people with kindness and respect. The relationship between staff and people was warm and friendly. People were encouraged and enabled to be as independent as possible supported by dedicated and committed staff. All staff were exceptional in how they listened to and responded to people’s needs, views and wishes.”
“All staff focussed on a very person-centred approach to care and support. Staff were exceptional skilled in enabling people to share feedback and ideas and following these through into reality. People’s views, choices and welfare were at the centre of everything they did. Staff were aware of the importance of ensuring people were not subject to inequality or discrimination due to autism, their health needs or any disability. Staff were determined to push through any barriers to equality. Some records supporting person centred care were not complete and this was addressed by the managers during the assessment process. Contact with family and friends was given a high priority, valued and promoted.”
“The registered manager and deputy manager were committed to the development of the service to support people to lead their best lives.
