“Date of Assessment: 01 October 2025. Water Royd Nursing Home is a care home providing personal and nursing care to up to 62 people, some of whom were living with dementia. At the time of our assessment 55 people were using the service. The home is split between 4 separate units. We carried out a comprehensive assessment due to the age of the rating. The service was previously rated good, and the service remains good at this assessment.”

“Medicines were mostly managed safely, however some improvements were required, to ensure the management team investigated stock discrepancies. People’s medicines administration records were complete, and medicines were stored and disposed of safely. People were safeguarded from the risk of abuse. People had their risks assessed and mitigated, including risks posed to people from the environment. Some refurbishments were required to the environment, the provider had recognised this, and an ongoing refurbishment plan was in place. People were protected from the risk of infection.”

People were supported to achieve good outcomes.”

“Staff were responsive to people’s needs and people had their needs met by staff who knew them well. People and relatives were provided with opportunities to feedback about their care, and this information was used to improve the service for people. People were supported to keep in touch with loved ones. People were involved in a range of activities, including community outings and charity projects.”

“People, relatives and staff knew who the manager was and told us the service was well led. Governance systems were robust, regular auditing was in place and used to drive improvements. The staff team felt valued and supported and told us they worked well together as a team. The provider was dedicated to continuously improving the care and support people received.”
