“At the last inspection, the service was in breach of regulations relating to person-centred care, safe care and treatment, safeguarding people from abuse, good governance, duty of candour and notification of incidents. At this inspection, we found the provider had made sufficient improvements and was no longer in breach of these regulations.”

“People received care from staff who were kind and respectful. Staff treated people with dignity and promoted their independence. People’s preferences and choices were considered, and care was delivered in a person-centred way. Staff had developed positive relationships with people and understood their individual needs.”

“People were kept safe. Risks to people’s health and wellbeing were assessed and managed appropriately. Care plans provided clear guidance for staff and were regularly reviewed to reflect people’s changing needs.”

“There were enough staff to meet people’s needs. Recruitment procedures were safe. Staff received an induction, training and regular supervision to carry out their roles effectively. Staff understood their responsibilities to safeguard people from the risk of abuse and felt confident to raise concerns. The registered manager worked with external agencies where required.”

“Medicines were managed safely, and people received their medicines as prescribed. Staff arranged access to healthcare services when needed.”

“Staff followed infection prevention and control guidance and had access to appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).”

“The provider acted in accordance with the Mental Capacity Act 2005 (MCA). Where people lacked capacity to make specific decisions, relevant assessments and best interest decisions were carried out. Applications for Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS) were made where necessary.”

“The service had a positive culture. The provider promoted learning and improvement. Systems were in place to monitor the quality and safety of care provision, and action was taken when required. Incidents and feedback were reviewed to identify learning and reduce the risk of recurrence.”

“People and their relatives were able to raise concerns and were confident these would be addressed. The provider acted in line with their responsibilities under the duty of candour.”

“The registered manager was visible and approachable. Staff spoke positively about the guidance they received and told us they felt valued in their roles.”
