“People were receiving an exceptionally caring service which had consistently exceeded their expectations. Staff were dedicated to providing the best of everything for people through support, care and consideration of their individuality. People were truly at the core of the service and staff worked tirelessly to ensure their needs were met.”

“ ”

“Health and social care professionals were extremely positive about the kind, talented staff and were unanimous in their views of the service having impeccably high standards. Professionals told us the staff and registered manager went above and beyond for the people they supported. Professionals said staff at St Cecilia had provided care and support beyond compare and this had enabled people to live well at the service for longer.”

“People had detailed care plans and risk assessments in place for all their care and support needs. Assessments were person centred and put people in control of their care. Safeguarding procedures were in place and staff knew how to raise concerns; they were confident they would be taken seriously by the registered manager. People can only be deprived of their liberty to receive care and treatment when this is in their best interests and legally authorised under the Mental Capacity Act 2005 (MCA). In care homes, and some hospitals, this is usually through MCA application procedures called the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS). We checked whether the service was working within the principles of the MCA, whether appropriate legal authorisations were in place when needed to deprive a person of their liberty, and whether any conditions relating to those authorisations were being met. People received theirmedicines as prescribed and safe systems were in place. Lessons were learnt and shared within the service. Recruitment processes were in place and were strengthened during the inspection. There were enough staff to meet people’s needs. Staff were supported by a comprehensive induction and training programme, including supervisions and the completion of national diplomas. Environmental cleaning, utility and equipment checks meant the service was safe, clean and hygienic. The provider had an ongoing improvement, refurbishment and redecoration plan in operation. Staff felt appreciated and were proud to work for the service. Governance systems were operating effectively, and this included oversight by the provider, with plans to increase this. The registered manager told us they were supported well by the provider and were confident and proud of the staff team. We received extremely positive feedback about the registered manager of the service.”
