“Date of assessment: 22 May 2025 to 12 June 2025. We undertook an unannounced site visit followed by a feedback session.”

“At the time of our assessment, there were 3 people using the service. The service is a residential care home providing care and support to people with a learning disability, autistic people and those with additional mental health needs.”

“We have assessed the service against ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ guidance to make judgements about whether the provider guaranteed people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choices, independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted.”

“There were systems in place which aimed to ensure people received their medicines as prescribed and to safeguard people from the risk of financial abuse. However, we found some aspects of these systems required further review to fully protect people. Records relating to maintenance of the electrical installation also required improvement to ensure all actions relating to electrical safety were always completed in a timely way. Other safety and safeguarding systems were robust and people who used the service were safe. Staff were well trained and supported people’s distressed reactions relating to their mental health needs extremely well.”

“People were involved in assessments of their own needs and were placed at the centre of their care. Staff worked with other health and social care professionals to meet people’s health needs. Feedback from health professionals was positive. People were supported to be involved in decisions about their care and give consent. Staff used a variety of communication methods to support this process.”

“People were treated with kindness and compassion and staff ensured people’s dignity was promoted. People were treated as individuals, according to their own specific and sometimes highly complex needs. People were supported to access the community and shape their own lives.”

“There was a shared vision and culture led by the manager and supported by the provider. Staff felt very well supported by the manager. Oversight by the provider was regular and they were a familiar presence in the service. However, audit processes had not identified the issues we found, and processes have already been reviewed to address this.”
