“This assessment was to follow up on actions from the last inspection in October 2022.”

“We assessed the service against ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ guidance to make judgements about whether the provider guaranteed people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choices, independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted. This provider was able to demonstrate how they were meeting the underpinning principles of ‘Right support, right care, right culture’.”

“Since the last inspection the home has had a change of provider and also a new manager.”

“People were protected from the risks of abuse and staff were trusted to keep them safe. Staff had received training in how to safeguard people.”

“We found the service had a good learning culture and people felt able to raise concerns. Incidents that had occurred at the service had been investigated and lessons learned had been completed to mitigate future risk. Data and information systems were used effectively to analyse information, identify themes and trends and improve the care and support provided.”

“Care records overall were person centred and were seen to be reviewed regularly. However, some recent information needed to be added for one person which was actioned by the manager. People's care needs were risk assessed and care plans provided staff with the information they needed to manage the identified risk. The service worked well with other health and social care professionals and supported people to achieve good outcomes.”

“Risk overall was well managed. We identified a few areas for improvement which were addressed immediately.”

“Staff treated people as individuals offering choice and supporting independence. Peoples protected characteristics were considered and staff understood individual preferences and listened to people.”

“Medicines were administered safely and learning from audits applied. We advised some improvements around the administration of creams and handwritten records which were actioned immediately.”

“Recruitment checks were robust to ensure staff were suitable to work with vulnerable adults. Staff had the necessary safety checks in place before starting work and completed a full induction.”

“The provider, manager and staff had a shared culture and passion for ensuring people reached their maximum potential. The provider and manager were visible and accessible for staff to seek advice and guidance.”

“Governance systems were in place to monitor the standard of care people received.”

“Staff told us the provider and manager were fair, had an ‘open door’ policy and they created a positive working culture to drive continual learning and improvement.”

“At the last inspection the previous provider was rated requires improvement. At this assessment under the new provider, we reviewed all 5 key questions, and the overall rating is now good.”
