“Ron's Place is a 'care home' it provides care and accommodation for up to four people with a diagnosis of a learning disability and autistic spectrum disorder. At the time of our visit there were two people living in the home. We carried out an inspection of this service between 27 August 2026 and 27 September 2026. This was a comprehensive inspection carried out due to the age of the existing rating.”

“We expect health and social care providers to guarantee people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choices and independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted. ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ is the guidance CQC follows to make assessments and judgements about services supporting people with a learning disability and autistic people and providers must have regard to it. The provider was meeting the principles of right support, right care, right culture.”

“A culture of learning and continuous improvement was embedded throughout the service, reflecting the principles of Right Support, Right Care, Right Culture. People received right support through well-coordinated, person-centred approaches to transitions, risk management and safeguarding, which promoted safety, independence and individual rights.”

“Staff delivered right care by providing compassionate, effective and personalised support that was responsive to people's assessed needs. The service demonstrated a positive and inclusive right culture, where people were respected, involved in decisions about their care, and encouraged to maintain choice and control over their lives.”

“Robust recruitment procedures, appropriate training and effective management oversight ensured staff were knowledgeable, competent and deployed in sufficient numbers to meet people's needs safely. Systems for medicines management, infection prevention and control, and environmental safety were consistently maintained, helping people feel safe and confident in the quality and reliability of the care they received.”

“Assessments were comprehensive and person-centred. Some improvements were required to ensure care records and staff training records were consistently reviewed and updated. These areas were discussed with the management team, who were open to feedback and demonstrated a commitment to strengthening processes and driving further improvement.”

“Care plans contained detailed and personalised information that enabled staff to provide individualised support. People and their relatives were actively involved in care planning and review processes, ensuring care continued to reflect their preferences, goals and needs. Where risks had been identified, care records contained guidance to help staff minimise risks to people's health, safety and wellbeing. Although some records were not always fully up to date, staff demonstrated a strong understanding of people's needs, preferences and abilities, enabling them to provide safe and effective support.”

“Staff received training relevant to the needs of the people they supported and effectively applied their skills, knowledge and experience to build trusting relationships and deliver positive outcomes. Medicines were stored, administered and managed safely in accordance with prescribed guidance.”

“People benefited from support provided by a caring, trained and experienced staff team. Staffing levels were sufficient to ensure people received timely and responsive care. People were offered choice in relation to meals and drinks, with dietary needs and personal preferences consistently respected.”

“People and their relatives understood how to raise concerns or complaints and felt confident that these would be listened to and addressed appropriately. Regular meetings, questionnaires and day-to-day conversations encouraged people, relatives and staff to share their views and contribute to service development, reinforcing a culture of…”
