“Date of assessment: 17 June to 27 June 2025. Park House is a residential care home providing both personal and nursing care to up to 111 people. At the time of the assessment 69 people were living within Park House. We undertook an assessment of the service to assess whether there had been any improvements within the service to identify whether the service remained in special measures. We assessed all the quality statements in the safe, effective, caring, responsive and well led key questions.”

“This service has been in Special Measures since 25 October 2024. The provider demonstrated improvements had been made. The service is no longer rated as inadequate overall or in any of the key questions. Therefore, this service is no longer in Special Measures.”

“The provider was previously in breach of legal regulations in relation to person centred care, dignity and respect, need for consent, safe care and treatment, premises and equipment, good governance, and staffing. Improvements were found during this assessment and the provider was no longer in breach of these regulations.”

“There were not always evidence people had been involved in their own care plans. Some care plans contained contradictory information however, the manager immediately rectified this when it was brought to their attention. Medicines were not always safely managed. For medicines that were to be given ‘when required’, the protocols in place were not detailed to advise staff on how much medication to administer and when. When people were assessed as requiring their medicines to be given covertly for example, in food or drink, the GP and pharmacy had been consulted to provide authorisation however, appropriate detailed guidance from the pharmacist was not obtained.”

“Staff spoke positively about the new manager, noting numerous improvements and a boost in team morale. They enjoyed working together and felt actively involved in driving those positive changes.”

“People were supported by staff who knew them well. We observed positive interactions between staff and people who lived in the home.”

“Systems check of the quality of the service were used and a detailed action plan was created to drive improvements.  ”
