Report published 27 July 2026
“Date of assessment: 4 to 23 June 2026”
“The service is a residential care home providing support mainly to people with mental health needs. Some people also had diagnoses of a learning disability and autism. The service could support a maximum of 5 service users. At the time of the assessment, 4 people were living at the service but only 1 person received the regulated activity of accommodation for persons who require nursing or personal care. This means the provider was responsible for both the person's accommodation and personal care.”

“We found concerns relating to the physical environment and infection prevention and control. Systems to manage safety and risks within the environment were not robust. Food safety requirements were not always adhered to. There were shortfalls in the management of medicines. Governance systems were not effective. These concerns placed people at risk of harm and resulted in breaches of legal regulations regarding safe care and treatment, and good governance.”
“We have asked the provider for an action plan in response to the concerns found at this assessment.”
“Staff understood their responsibilities to protect people from abuse and neglect. They assessed risks to people’s health, care and wellbeing. The provider recruited and deployed staff safely. Staff had access to a range of training courses to inform their practice.”
“People’s needs were assessed and reviewed regularly. Staff encouraged people to make healthier lifestyle choices. They monitored people’s care and wellbeing, and treated them with respect. They knew people’s individual needs and supported them accordingly.”
“There were ways for people to express their views and raise any concerns. The provider worked collaboratively with external agencies to ensure people received effective care and support. The provider also supported staff and ensured their views were heard.”
“We assessed the service against ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ guidance to make judgements about whether the provider guaranteed autistic people and people with a learning disability respect, equality, dignity, choices, independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted. We found the service provided care and support in line with this guidance.”
