“Date of Assessment: 9 December 2025 to 23 January 2026. The service is a nursing home providing support to adults of all ages living with physical disabilities, mental health conditions and a dementia. The assessment took place because of the length of time since our last visit.”

“The premises were not always kept safe for people to use, and the provider did not have effective infection prevention and control systems in place. Risks were assessed, but these sometimes lacked detail on how to keep people safe. Staff did not always receive effective and consistent support through supervisions, and recruitment records sometimes lacked important information. Care plans were in place, but some had conflicting or missing information on people’s support needs. Governance systems were not always effective at monitoring and improving standards at the service. We found 2 breaches of regulation, in relation to premises safety, risk management, staffing and governance.”

“Medicines were managed safely. Staffing levels were monitored, though staff gave us mixed feedback on these.”

“People had enough to eat and drink to stay healthy. Staff supported people to access healthcare services to monitor and promote their health and wellbeing. People were supported to make decisions and give informed consent. Staff involved those important to people to take decisions in people’s best interests where they did not have capacity, though records of this were not consistently competed.”

“People were treated kindly by staff who knew them well. Staff treated people as individuals and protected their privacy and dignity. Staff told us they usually felt supported in their roles, and that the registered manager had taken steps to improve this since joining the service.”

“People were supported to access activities, but these did not always reflect people’s interests or help them to avoid social isolation. Staff provided information people could understand. People and those close to them were encouraged to share their views with the service. Staff involved people and those close to them in planning their care and understanding their options around choosing to withdraw or not receive care.”

“The registered manager was visible and supportive, and helped staff develop in their roles. Feedback was sought and was acted on. Staff worked in effective partnership with healthcare partners to monitor and improve people’s health and wellbeing.”
