“Keychange Charity Romans Home provides accommodation and personal care for up to 30 older people with a variety of health and support needs, including some people living with dementia. At the time of the assessment, 25 people were living at the home. We undertook our on site assessment activity on 18 December 2023 and our offsite assessment was completed on 20 February 2024. We looked at 5 quality statements: Safeguarding; Involving people to manage risks; Safe and effective staffing; Independence, choice and control and Equity in experiences and outcomes.”

“Staff had been trained in safeguarding and knew how to recognise any signs of abuse; they knew what actions to take if they suspected abuse had occurred. Processes were effective in monitoring and managing any incidents or accidents. Care plans included assessments of people’s risks with advice for staff on how to mitigate these risks, which they followed. There were sufficient staff on duty to meet people’s care and support needs. New staff were recruited safely. Staff understood how to deliver person-centred care and promoted people’s independence taking account of their preferences. Policies and processes supported people’s diverse needs and staff cared for people in line with their needs and choices.”
