“The service is a care home. There were 3 people using the service at the time of the assessment.”

“Who the service is for”

“ ”

“This service supports autistic people and people with a learning disability. The service uses a household model of care. People live in small groups that share a kitchen, lounge and dining area, but have their own room with en-suite. This helps create a familiar home environment where staff can support people in a more personal and flexible way.  Key findingsWe carried out this assessment on 15 July to 14 August 2026. This service was previously rated as good. We carried out this assessment to confirm whether the rating of good remains accurate. This report does not provide detailed information on areas where we found practice continues to meet a good standard.”

“ ”

“People’s risks were assessed and people and their relatives were involved in the process. There were systems in place to ensure the environment was safe.”

“There were effective systems in place to safeguard people from abuse. Staff and managers had completed relevant adult safeguarding training for their roles and were informed about safeguarding practices and how to report concerns.”

“Medicines were administered safely Staff had been trained in medicines management and records demonstrated people received their medicines as prescribed.”

“People were supported by enough staff who had the skills and knowledge to support them safely. Staff confirmed they had received appropriate and regular training, including specific training in learning disabilities. Relatives told us staff knew their family members well. Comments included, “[Family member] is very safe” and “I believe they understand [family member] really well.””

“The environment for each individual had been designed to meet their needs. Each person had their own flat attached to a communal area which enabled people to have space alone and privacy alongside a social communal area. A weekly house meeting was held where people made their choices for the coming week regarding meals, TV, outings and decoration for the communal areas. People were able to decorate and furnish their personal areas as they wished and make contact with their relatives as and when they wanted.”

“There was a positive culture amongst the staff group and the provider’s values to deliver high-quality person-centred care was evident in staff practice and comments. The service was well led by a respected registered manager.”

“The provider met the requirements of the Accessible Information Standard. A combination of verbal prompts, pictorial guides, bespoke scripts and Makaton sign language were used by people to communicate. These were clearly described in care records and used at varying times according to people’s wishes and changing cognitive needs.”

“We assessed the service against ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ guidance to make judgements about whether the provider guaranteed autistic people and people with a learning disability respect, equality, dignity, choices, independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted. We found the service was fully compliant with the guidance.”

“People can only be deprived of their liberty to receive care and treatment with appropriate legal authority. In care homes, this can be done through a procedure called the Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards (DoLS), which is part of the Mental Capacity Act 2005 (MCA). We checked whether the service was working within the principles of the MCA and how they managed DoLS within the service. We found that staff and management worked within the MCA. DoLS authorisations were appropriately applied for and overseen. People were not subject to unlawful or excessive restrictions they had choice, control and freedom over their lives.”
