“Date of Assessment: 30 June to 7 July 2025. Huntington Court is a residential care home providing support to older people and younger adults living with dementia, mental health conditions and physical disabilities. The service is registered to support up to 43 people. At the time of our assessment, there were 42 people using the service. The service is registered to be used by autistic people or people with a learning disability but is not registered as a specialist service. At the time of our assessment, the service was supporting 2 older people with a learning disability. We have assessed the service against ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ guidance to make judgements about whether the provider guaranteed people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choices, independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted.”

“People were kept safe, but care plans required further development to provide personalised information around people’s specific needs, including health conditions, support with distress, decision making, choices and processes. Some areas of the environment needed refurbishment and maintenance was not always undertaken in a timely manner. Improvements were needed to the management and administration of people’s medicines. Where we identified areas for improvement, the management team took prompt action to make the necessary changes. This included ensuring all risks were understood by staff and systems were in place to reduce these as far as possible and addressing immediate environmental concerns.”

“People were supported to stay well, had enough food and drink and were supported to access healthcare. The registered manager was developing relationships with health professionals to improve communication. People were involved in assessments of their needs and in decisions about their care.”

“People were treated with kindness and compassion. Staff protected their privacy and dignity. They treated them as individuals and supported them to ensure their preferences were known and met. Staff responded to people in a timely way. People had choice in their care and were encouraged to maintain relationships with family and friends. The provider supported staff wellbeing.”

“Staff described the service positively and felt the culture was supportive and inclusive. Managers were visible, knowledgeable and supportive, helping staff to develop in their roles. Managers engaged well with people, staff and other agencies, including the local community, to support people to achieve the best possible outcomes from their care.”
