“While some people reported positive experiences of rehabilitation support, we found that systems intended to monitor and improve the quality and safety of care were not consistently effective.”

“People did not always receive timely support when they requested assistance. Leaders did not always ensure there were sufficient staff deployed to meet people’s needs promptly. Governance systems also did not consistently identify risks relating to medicines management, environmental safety, infection prevention and care documentation.”

“Internal monitoring systems did not always provide accurate oversight of risks within the service. Environmental hazards, medicines management issues and gaps in documentation had not been identified through internal audits. Leaders did not consistently demonstrate systems to analyse incidents or feedback to drive improvement.”

“However, we observed positive interactions during therapy sessions where staff supported people with rehabilitation and recovery. Mandatory training was largely up to date, and some staff demonstrated compassionate and skilled care.”

“We found three breaches of regulation relating to safe care and treatment, staffing and good governance.”

“In instances where CQC has begun a process of regulatory action, we may publish this information on our website after any representations and/or appeals have been concluded, if the action has been taken forward.”
