“This assessment was prompted by concerns raised with us about the safety and management of the service.”

“We did not identify any significant issues during this assessment, although we identified further improvements were required. For example, although we found medicines for people were managed safely, risk assessments were needed for some higher risk medicines like anticoagulants and flammable topical preparations. The registered manager and provider actioned any shortfalls immediately.”

“Although there were enough staff to ensure people’s safety, we received feedback that people’s individual needs were not always being met, especially overnight. assured us staffing levels would be reviewed to ensure there were sufficient staff at all times of day and night.”

“A kitchenette was due for refurbishment, the provider confirmed work would commence 15 July 2025 and it would not be in use until the work was completed.”

“Staff and leaders demonstrated compassion and kindness to people and their relatives, as well as to each other, which resulted in positive care outcomes and a good atmosphere within the service.”

“People were protected from the risk of harm and abuse.”

“People were supported to have choice and control and were involved in planning their care. Care plans were personalised, however not everyone’s individual needs were being met. Processes to record accidents and incidents were in place and lessons were learned from them.”

“People were encouraged to be independent as much as possible, staff sought their consent and protected people’s privacy and dignity.”

“The provider and registered manager were responsive to the improvements we noted during our assessment. However, they were not identified as part of the governance systems in place to monitor the service to ensure people were safe and drive continuous improvements.”

“The management team and provider were supportive of staff and people and shared a positive vision and culture.”

“An assessment has been undertaken of a service that is used by autistic people or people with a learning disability but is not registered as a specialist service. We have assessed the service against ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ guidance to make judgements about whether the provider guaranteed people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choices, independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted.”
