“Date of assessment: 20 May 2025 and 29 May 2025. This assessment was carried out in response to information we had received about the service. Cassandra House provides care and accommodation for up to 43 older people some of whom have a dementia related condition. There were 31 people living at the service at the time of the inspection. At the time of the inspection there was a manager in post who was recently registered with CQC. During the inspection we identified areas of risk associated with monitoring and maintenance of the premises, medicines management, care planning and management oversight. Records relating to people’s care contained contradictory information and were not always effective in supporting safe care. Care plans to support people's health conditions were not always in place and where they were, they lacked information regarding risks to people and how to manage these. Risks within the environment had not always been considered or assessed. Systems and processes were in place to monitor the quality of the service. However, where risks had been identified, actions were not always taken to keep people safe. People did not always receive their medicines as prescribed. Timely action was not always taken to address shortfalls in medicine stock levels. Medicines systems and processes did not identify when escalation was required to prevent the risk of people not receiving their prescribed medicines correctly. The registered manager and the nominated individual were receptive to feedback and took action to address the issues during the assessment. We have identified breaches of regulation at this assessment in relation to safe care and treatment, and governance of the service. We have asked the provider for an action plan in response to the concerns found during this assessment.”
