“We have assessed the service against ‘Right support, right care, right culture’ guidance to make judgements about whether the provider guaranteed people with a learning disability and autistic people respect, equality, dignity, choices, independence and good access to local communities that most people take for granted. The provider was working in line with national best practice guidance for supporting people with a learning disability and autistic people. The registered manager and the staff team had embraced this guidance and supported people to ensure they were supported in accordance with their wishes.”

“People received care that was consistently safe and tailored to their individual needs. There were sufficient numbers of staff deployed to meet people’s needs, and risks were well managed in a way that promoted people’s independence without unnecessarily restricting their choices. Safe recruitment processes were followed to help ensure only suitable staff were employed.”

“Staff completed a comprehensive induction when they joined the service and received regular training, supervision, and ongoing support. This helped ensure they had the skills and knowledge required to provide safe and effective care.”

“Staff told us they felt well supported in their roles. They attended regular training, which was continually monitored to ensure they were compliant. Staff demonstrated a clear understanding of safeguarding procedures and their responsibility to protect people from harm, contributing to a safe care environment.”

“People were actively involved in planning their care, which reflected a person-centred approach. Care plans were detailed and included people’s preferences, abilities, and the support they required while promoting independence. Monthly goals were developed with people, taking into account their aspirations and what they wished to achieve.”

“Staff had a good understanding of people’s needs and delivered care in line with their preferences. People were supported to make decisions about their care, helping them to maintain control and dignity in their daily lives.”

“The management team and staff worked effectively in partnership with health and social care professionals to maintain continuity of care, including when people moved between services. Professionals provided positive feedback, highlighting good communication and timely referrals when people’s needs changed. This collaborative approach helped ensure people experienced coordinated, consistent care and had their changing needs responded to without delay.”

“Robust systems were in place to monitor the quality of the service and drive continuous improvement. Leaders were visible, knowledgeable, and approachable, providing clear direction and support to staff. They promoted a culture of ongoing learning and development, supporting staff to build their skills and confidence in their roles. This helped ensure the delivery of high-quality care and positive outcomes for people.”
